The Youth trip is finished. Our travellers are returning home. Just before the whole thing was declared over, the ROCOR youth put on a performance (which is a tradition). Here are some photos from that occasion.

Please, please pray for the people who are caught up in the calamities in Russia. The fires are everywhere it seems and the terrible smog is only just starting to clear but is still making life very difficult. Please pray for rain and for God’s mercy.

I have just found some more photos of the Youth Group (travelling with Fr Gabriel and Matushka Irina) whilst in Belarussia. They spent some time in a women’s monastery in honour of St Panteleimon, and then met the Metropolitan Philaret of Minsk and Slootsk.

If you haven’t been on the ROCOR website yet, then you wouldn’t have seen photos of Fr Gabriel and Matushka Irina in Russia. At the moment, they are in Kursk. There is also a photo of Volodya Bigdan and Ben Drozdovski. Hope you enjoy them. Keep praying for them, and their speedy return back home.

Homesick

Well, the icons are finally being put up – this Saturday 17th July – they are all going up.

I don’t know about you, but I am homesick.

As per the Service Schedule, Vigil is at 6pm and Liturgy at 8:30am.

Painting the Church

Over the next three weeks, our church will be painted inside and out. At the moment, 1 July 2010, the church is being painted inside. During this time, (the next two Sundays) there will not be any services. Please check on the Schedule for the exact times.

All of this necessary work is taking place to prepare the church and its surrounds for the 90th Anniversary of our Parish. You all know that this is the first Russian Orthodox church built on Australian soil.

It is a very important date and we must prepare our church building for this anniversary. Many other works will be taking place. Please contact our Head Sister Mussia Okulov and our Matushka Irina (when she returns from Russia) about how you can contribute as well.

On the Sunday 30^th May our parish held a fundraiser lunch in support of the Missionary Faculty of St Tikhon’s Orthodox University of Humanities in Moscow. The total amount raised was $2,060. Our sincere thanks to all those who supported this great cause and generously donated!
